I went garage saleing last Saturday and had so much fun I just may do it again tomorrow. Great place to pick up baby things...and since one of my cousins just adopted a little boy and another one is expecting a little boy soon I'm shopping for them. It's good practice for someday...in the future...
My brother is the best! He gave me 42 Star Trek books. Stuff the library he is the director for is discarding - so definitely not in great shape - but since I've never been a collector and am only interested in the sheer entertainment value of a good book I don't care about that. It's all TOS (that means The Original Series for the non-trekkies who may be reading this.) stuff except for one DS9 book. Mostly fiction, a few making of type books. Most of it is from the 80s and 90s but there are about 10-12 books of fiction from back in the late 60s too. These will be added to my pile of what I would conservatively estimate to be about 25 books from various genres that are already waiting for me to read them. Man, I need another book shelf! And a heck of a lot more free time!
Sunday afternoon we're having a large family gathering with my mom's side of the family at my Uncle & Aunt's place in Plainwell (30 north of here). We'll get to meet Malachi (the little boy my cousin Andee and her husband adopted.) Malachi??!! No, that kid's not going to have a complex about his name. :)
Tomorrow is the founder days festival in Delton where my brother is the library director and he's having some string quartet concert or something at the library gazebo. My mom and dad will be there but Rick doesn't want to go so I probably won't go either.
Watched part of the opening ceremonies for the Olympics this evening. Is it just me, or does the Olympics just not seem to be the big deal it used to be? I remember getting really excited about it as a child...now it's just kind of blah. Still, parts of the opening ceremony were kind of neat and parts of it were a little too abstract artsy and pretentious for my taste. Lots of symbolism - maybe too much. :)
