Aug. 18th, 2004 09:51 pmWell, garage saleing went well. Got lots of clothes for my cousins' little boys. That's two different cousins and their respective spouses - two little boys. Malachi was born July 19th and adopted officially by my cousin Andee and her husband Greg on July 27th and my cousin Herb's wife Mary was scheduled for a C-section today so Zackary should be here by now. I love babies. Not too sure how I feel about kids, which is why I haven't had any babies of my own yet because I do realize they grow up into kids. :)
The find of the Sat. garage sale experience was a Singer sewing machine. An older model to be sure - but it must have been top of the line in it's day and it's been very well taken care of. It will do 6 different embroidery stitches, can take two needles/colors of thread at the same time for embroidery, has a ruffler attachment, an attachment for sewing on buttons etc. All for $20! I love garage sales. Most importantly both the bobbin winder and reverse features work (unlike my previous machine). Ah, it's SOOOOO nice not to have to hand wind bobbins anymore. I think I'll actually do some sewing now that I have a machine that works.
Also picked up were an old fashioned electric popcorn popper just like we had when I was a kid, a crock pot, some party lite votive holder, a lawn/lounge chair, and a Corduroy book (you can't help but love that little bear!) Rick came with and we had quite a time of it.
Oh, the big family gathering went well too. My uncle who has terminal brain cancer was there. He was having a good day, real sharp. He looked right at Rick (who is growing his hair out) and asked him if his barber had died. LOL Malachi was there too - for most of us it was our first time meeting him. He's so tiny - he was a little premature. There were also barn kittens to play with, a new dog named Snickers who must weigh less than my cat and is full grown - he's so adorable I tried to steal him when we left, and turkey cooked in a fryer....mmmmmm, heavenly.
