Well, the weekend ended up being so busy I never found time to go see The Chronicles of Riddick. Oh well, maybe next weekend. Friday night my Aunt Anita and Uncle Jim and their two girls came through town and took [livejournal.com profile] _blackhawk_, myself, and my brother, Edward, out to dinner. It was nice seeing them. We don't get to see them too often since they are from Rockford, IL. Saturday while [livejournal.com profile] _blackhawk_ was out fishing Edward picked me up and we went down to Stevensville about an hour from here where Jim and Anita were staying with Grandma. We visited with them for several hours, stopped by the nursing home to say hi to Grandpa who really is quite unresponsive and doesn't seem to have a clue who any of us are. I asked him if he knew who I was and he said that I used to live across from him on Oak St. They've lived on Lincoln since before I was even born...I don't know if he has ever even lived on Oak St. On the up side Grandpa is happier than I have seen him in a while. He's not aware of all his limitations and what he can't do because he's not really aware of much that is going on around him it seems. He thinks the place he is in has great food, good coffee, and he enjoys all the attention he gets from the staff. Grandma on the other hand is not handling things well - it's a lot rougher on her.

Saturday night after Edward and I got back we hooked up with a co-worker of [livejournal.com profile] _blackhawk_'s and the 3 of us got into an AD&D/Ravenloft campaign. *sighs* It's been a long time since I've been in a face to face rpg - my how I've missed it. This is a decent group of people - you know, not scary and completely out of touch with reality, just people that enjoy gaming, know it is JUST A GAME, and like having a good time. They're also around our age which is nice. I was the only woman there - but I'm used to that. :o) There was mention of another girl that does come but just wasn't there that evening. We had a lot of fun and left around 4:30am. Got to bed around 5am. So I got just under 4 hours of sleep before I had to get up and go to church. You kind of HAVE to be there when you've committed to singing on the worship team. Despite the sleep deprivation I really enjoyed worship this morning. After a couple of cups of coffee during fellowship time (between practice at 9:30 and service at 10:45) I was doing fine. I'm starting to realize that life is for living and a little sleep deprivation now and again never hurt anyone. God is showing me how much JOY there is in living life day to day and leaving the future in his hands. I've been so busy struggling to grasp at something in the distant future I've been letting the everyday joys pass me by. No more! Life is not a matter of when I have achieved X I will then have time for Y. No, you've got to make time for Y if Y is what makes you happy, brings you joy, etc. It's cliche I know, but life is not a destination, it *IS* a journey. That's what God has been teaching me lately.

Today we went up to Plainwell for my cousin's graduation open house. I can't believe she is graduating! I remember so vividly when she was born. We saw my brother and my parents and most of my mom's side of the family there. Got an update from Aunt Barb on Uncle Al. His spinal fluid is free of cancer which would indicate that the brain tumor is at least not growing and possibly even has gotten smaller but they are still waiting for the results of his latest MRI to ascertain that. Aunt Barb is done with school for the summer so since his insurance has run out Uncle Al will be moving home from the nursing home on Tues.
