You know I remember a day when I would have been more likely to be still up at this time and just going to bed now rather than up and at work after a good night's sleep. I miss those days. College...the best 4 years of my life.

So anyways...I watched American Idol last night. I'm addicted, what can I say? I have a couple of thoughts on that:

1. Why the heck should it take 1 hour to reveal who got the last 4 spots in the top 12? This could easily be accompished in 30 minutes!

I LOVE the wind.
There is something about it.
It's almost indescribable, the feeling I get
When I step outside on a windy day.
I feel so exhilarated, so free, so alive!
Like I can face anything.
The wind envelops me, embraces me, urges me on.
I am under no illusion that it is my friend,
It would turn on me at a moments notice if it so desired.
The danger is part of the charm.
It is wild, it is free.
I cannot control it.
But then, neither can it control me.

Any other sociology majors out there will appreciate what I am about to say. (Even though I'm not using my degree in my job, the subject matters still invades my life on a regular basis.) I just realized that the advent and evolution of emoticons in on-line communities would make a fascinating study. I got to thinking about the first post I did today and that if people hadn't known I was in a silly mood they may have taken some of the stuff I said about presidential elections in a completely different manner than the tongue in cheek way I intended. Well, obviously this is part of the reason that emoticons came into being. Do you remember the old days when people constantly mistook something you said in an e-mai...sarcasm was sometimes completely lost in translation. Then someone invented the :) :( ;) etc...which has evolved and diversified into myriad forms of emoticons. As Spock would say...Fascinating.
